SCIENCE TALENT PROMOTION SCHEME
This scheme is aimed at encouraging science talent in the State and creating a competitive scientific culture, under graduate and post graduate levels for the award of science talent promotion scholarships.

Young Scientist Awards are conferred annually to recognize the outstanding achievements of Young Scientists of the State in the areas of Agricultural, Biological, Engineering and Earth Sciences, Medical and Physical Sciences.
Young Scientist Fellowships of 3-6 months duration for improving of professional capabilities in chosen areas of Science & Technology are also being provided under the scheme.
Partial financial assistance is also being provided to the State based scientists for attending national/international conferences/seminars/workshops etc.

Guidelines for Travel .grant for State based scientists for attending scientific conferences/seminars/ workshops within and outside the Country.
OBJECTIVE
To encourage State based Scientists for participation in National /international conference within and outside country and to present research papers, chair sessions, deliver invited lectures and attend meetings of Organizing / Advisory Bodies.
QUANTUM OF ASSISTANCE
(i) For the Conferences within and outside the Country the
Travel Grant shall be equal to the Actual Fare by Second A.C. rail /2nd Class Sleeper/ Delux Bus as per entitlement. Travel between Srinagar, Leh and Jammu by Air (Economy Class) / Taxi (Shared) / Delux Bus as per entitlement.
(ii) For the Conference's outside the Country the assistance
shall restricted to the 50% of the Actual return Air Fare by Economy Class through the shortest route subject to a maximum assistance of Rs. 25, 0007-
(iii) Chief Executive, Science and Technology Council" (Commissioner/Secretary, Science & Technology Department) shall be competent to sanction grants for the national level conference whereas for the international conference approval of Chairman or the Executive Committee shall be required.
CONDITIONS GOVERNING THE GRANT
i. Letter of acceptance of the paper/invitation of
participation from the organizers . of the
conference/seminar should accompany the application
f o r m
. ii. The applicant should be permitted by the competent authority of his ^parent department to attend the conference in support of which the application should be
endorsed by the said authority.
iii. The grant shall be reimbursed to the grantee after having
attended the conference on the production of
vouchers/tickets
iv. The grantee shall have to furnish a report on the conference and a copy of the research .paper presented atthe conference, to J&K State Council for Science and Technology, Srinagar / Jammu
v. Financial assistance shall be provided to an individual scientist once in three years.
vi. Financial assistance shall be provided on "First come first
serve basis subject to the availability of funds
